3 Reasons a Private Elementary School Is The Right Choice

Private high schools schools are known to be both more expensive and more selective when compared to public schools. They also are known to have more rigorous academic standards, and are often said to be a major stepping stone to future career success. Many of their students go on to college and are often present at more prestigious universities than their public school peers.

But can the same be said for private elementary schools? Absolutely. Private elementary schools can be the place where your child's learning habits are formed, as well as their overall attitude towards education. The right teachers can help tremendously at this early age, and on average 60 to 80% of private school teachers have an advanced degree.

Considering a private elementary school for your children? Here are three more benefits to keep in mind:

1. Smaller Class Sizes

Private schools have a smaller teacher to student ratio, which means that each student gets more individualized attention and guidance. The average ratio between the students and teachers in a typical private school is 8.8 students to 1 teacher, meaning that each student can become familiar with their instructor and learn more effectively. This also means that the teacher can spot bad habits before they're set in stone, allowing your child to learn more effectively for years to come.

2. More Engaged Parents

Private schools tend to promote regular communication among students, parents, and teachers to ensure that everyone is on the same page. The teachers will seek the parents' feedback in the child's education, and that means parents have more say in what the student learns. Just as importantly, private school parents tend to be more involved in the overall school community, which results in stronger extracurricular programs for all students.

3. A Rounded Education

While it is true that public schools also try to provide classes in the arts, sports teams, and other extracurricular activities, in reality these programs are often cut or underfunded. However, a private school makes these activities an essential part of the students' learning experience. This can even include things like community service or other good works, which help to grow their sense of civic consciousness and social knowledge. This allows kids to develop into a more well-rounded individual, with interests in the arts, the community, and learning.

Private schools are a great investment into your child's future, especially in an age where a college degree is becoming more and more common. The right start to their learning life could mean a great school, and a great career, further down the road. For all these reasons and more, more parents are choosing to invest in a private elementary school education.
