Dance Advisory and the Florida Movement Choir

Dance Advisory has been invited to join the Florida Waterways Dance Project, an event created to unite the college, university and K-12 arts programs of Florida through the state's diverse waterways.

This event is scheduled for March 5, 2011 at 4:00 PM. It will bring forth the similarities between water and art and our responsibility to protect and nourish them both. The creators of this project believe that “water is more than a geological link; it's also a metaphor for life's flow, for the inevitability of change and for the essential human need for connection.” Humankind needs water to exist, and at the same time, since the first humans walked the Earth, the need to express ourselves through some form of Art has been as ever-present as our need to survive.

Several institutions will be participating in this project throughout the state. Florida has nationally recognized undergraduate and graduate arts programs, as well as an extensive system of magnet schools with quality training in the arts. Some of the schools in Miami joining the Conchita Espinosa Academy Dance Advisory are New World School of the Arts, Miami-Dade College, Miami Arts Charter School, and South Miami Middle Community School.

On March 5th, the event in Miami will take place at Jose Marti Park. There will be simultaneous performances throughout the state. Some of the other participating institutions are College of Central Florida, Ocala, Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Northwest Florida State College, Niceville, NOVA Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, University of Florida, Gainesville, and University of South Florida, Tampa.

The event will be videotaped and it will have a live feed through the Internet to reach a much broader audience. You can learn more about it by going to their blog, http://floridamovementchoir.blogspot.com/ and you can also go to floridawaterwaysdanceproject.com for more information and to watch the live stream of all performances on Saturday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m.

February 16, 2011 - Rehearsals continue at Jose Marti Park. Dance Advisory students also take some time to pose for pictures and explore the park.
