Cougars Baseball Wins Against Industriales!

On September 21st the Cougars opened their 2013 Fall campaign at home and came away with a 3 to 2 victory over the Industriales after eight innings and three hours, a lead-off single by Justin Beznilla, two stolen bases, and a sacricifce fly by Ruben Diaz and the Cougars were on the board early. The Industriales answered in the second and the game was tied at two until a lead-off single in the fourth by Peter Amaro and a run scoring rip by Raul Mollera brought the score to 2 to 1.

The Industriales answered in the fifth and the game was tied at 2 apiece after six innings to force extra innings. With two out in the eighth, Ruben Diaz ripped a double into deep left center to get into scoring position. With Eddie Janiero at the plate, Diaz broke for third, where the ball sailed past the thrid baseman and Diaz kept motoring for home. A play at the plate...and Diaz was safe!

The game was highlighted by great work on the mound by starter Amaro, reliever Mikey Zaldivar and Ruben Diaz, all of whom pitched great! And great defense by Z, Bezanilla and Mike Moreno proved critical in the game.

Great job Cougars!
Thank you Coach Francis!
