Nutrition and Spanish

In the third quarter, Upper School Spanish students studied nutrition in Spanish, with the end goal of developing a healthy and balanced diet. The first step was to learn about the various food groups as a class and establish an appropriate consumption plan based on each student's age and individual needs. Students gained awareness regarding their current habits, and learned to practice healthier eating habits, including the consumption of more natural and organic foods. They also researched the general culture and gastronomy of the various countries represented in the class, as well as striving to find a personal balance.

The methodology used was playful, participatory, and experimental, getting students, families, and other faculty members involved in the process. The unit concluded with a group project based on nutrition, promoting a constructive, responsible, and supportive environment in which to continue learning about proper nutrition.
