8th Grade Blind Self-Portrait Poems

This month the eighth grade literature and visual arts classes collaborated on a blind self-portrait poetry project to close the eighth grade literature unit on poetry with Mrs. Julio. Students took time to reflect and wrote self-portrait poems. In their visual arts class, Mrs. Vazquez guided them through the process of creating blind self-portraits, meaning they had their eyes closed while they drew themselves based on their intuition and self-awareness. This poetry and art project was a deeply layered project that really challenged our eighth graders to look within and better get to know themselves in order to create beautiful pieces of literary and visual art. Thank you to Mrs. Julio and Mrs. Vazquez for the thoughtful and amazing work you do with your students.
