Caring Cougars and Junior Art Masteries are working a schoolwide initiative alongside Jar of HeArts, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping children overcome trauma through creative expression. For the second year, will be working with Jar of HeArts on their “HeArt Bag Project.”
HeArt Bag Project
The HeART Bag Project helps prepare special bags filled with art materials, such as crayons, colored pencils, coloring books, watercolors and other comfort items, to help ease the often extended hospital stays of children with chronic conditions in our local children’s hospitals. The project has so far enriched the hearts of over 880 hospitalized children, thanks to our community and the Miami Marlins who participated in The heART bag project this past June by helping paint, pack and deliver 150 heART bags to Holtz Children’s Hospital, Sylvester’s pediatric oncology clinic “Alex’s place,” and to Jackson’s Pediatric Prescribed Extended Care Center.
How to Participate
Through the leadership of Caring Cougars and Junior Art Mastery, we are asking our entire school community to sponsor a HeArt Bag filled with art supplies.
With a donation of $25, each person who sponsors a bag will:
- Receive a CEA + Jar of heARTS t-shirt, which may be worn on Valentine’s Day
- Each student sponsor will be recognized on a heART dedication wall in school
Caring Cougars and Junior Art Masteries will decorate and prepare the sponsored bags, and Jar of HeArts will deliver them to a local partnership hospital.
Please fill out and return the Sponsorship Form with the $25 bag sponsorship payment (cash or check only) to your child’s homeroom teacher by Monday, January 13th.
We hope you can help make an impact in our community through the power of the arts!
