At CEA, we believe that a child’s education does not end at 3:00 p.m. We encourage students to develop as well-rounded and multi-dimensional human beings. Beyond the weekly school curriculum that includes the core academic subjects, D.R.E.A.M.S. classes, and the Mastery program, Conchita offers students numerous ways for students to continue to develop their passions and interests and discover new ones beyond regular school hours.
CEA benefits from housing the Conservatory of the Arts on its campus, which offers students both from the Academy and the community the opportunity to continue their education in the Arts through private and group classes in music, dance, martial arts, and visual arts. In addition to the Academy and the Conservatory, there are numerous ways in which students can be involved in campus life after school, from our wide-ranging Athletic Program, to community service opportunities, honor societies, Student Council, and special events.
Conservatory of the Arts
The Conservatory of the Arts, located on the CEA campus and available for students during the day and after school hours, has been an integral part of the “Conchita experience” since school’s inception. Conchita Espinosa Conservatory of the Arts (CEC), which is open to CEA students and the community, is committed to developing and training young artists through formal Conservatory training in music, dance, theatre, martial arts, and visual arts. Courses are designed to meet the needs and well-being of students aspiring to nurture and further develop their natural artistic talents and interests.
Facilities:
5 professional dance studios
11 music rooms
Art room and kiln
Dressing rooms
Rosita Segovia Theater
Private and group classes are offered from K3 through high school.
Dance
The Dance Department offers group classes from preschool to professional levels in ballet, Spanish dance, lyrical, contemporary, Cuban dance, and hip hop. Students develop technique and artistry, and progress in a manner that is physically and psychologically appropriate for each developmental stage. Respect and love for this art form is nurtured in the young dancer, creating a dedicated and sincere artist.
Dance >Music
Music classes follow Conchita Espinosa’s method, which is based on the European Method. Private classes are offered in piano, voice, guitar, strings, winds, and brass instruments. The objective is to help students become familiar with the international language of music and guide them in nurturing their talent. Students develop technique and the ability to interpret music of various styles as they master the studied musical instrument. Private music classes include a group class in Music Theory and Solfeggio.
Music >Visual Arts
Visual Arts classes take a classical approach to teaching drawing and painting. Students learn how “to see” in a new way and learn to draw as if their hands were an extension of their eyes. The curriculum includes learning traditional techniques for drawing, acrylic painting, watercolor, oil pastels, and ceramics. Students utilize a variety of media and techniques.
Visual Arts >Martial Arts
Martial Arts classes include elements from Olympic Tae Kwon Do, Jiu Jitsu, Karate, and Hapkido and focus on technique and skill building. Martial arts classes cultivate a deeper understanding of one’s body and spirit, as well as the development of physical and mental strength, discipline, and respect that characterize the martial arts lifestyle.
Martial Arts >CEA Athletics Department
Cougar Athletics

Clubs and Honor Societies
Honor Societies
Honor Society membership is an honor earned by Upper School students who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to scholarship, leadership, the arts, service, and character.
Student Council
Student Council is CEA’s student government and an important way to promote student leadership, citizenship, and service. Students run for office as Executive Board members (8th grade) or class representatives (3rd – 8th grade), and work to serve their school community.
Student Council >Educational Travel
Educational Travel
Educational travel broadens our awareness of others and sharpens self-awareness, as students have the chance to gather firsthand information about the world. Seeing different landscapes, experiencing the challenges of certain cultures, and listening to the opinions of people in other countries and cities provides a deeper level of mindfulness. Profound experiences give people a sense of place and purpose, and they cultivate lifelong values and priorities.
