On Friday, September 23rd, the Cross Country team participated in the Miami-Dade County Championships, held at Larry and Penny Thompson Park.
The JV Boys finished 4th out of 12 scoring teams. Five of the six boys set personal records, led by Angel Mielgo‘s 6th place finish and Chase Chavez’s 25th place overall finish.
The Varsity Boys finished in 2nd place overall for the second year in a row, with a distance from third place of 103 points. All eight students set personal records. Luis Moringlane, Moss Haushalter and Andres Grande all medaled finishing 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively.
Finally, the Varsity Girls’ team are once again county champions! This marks the third time in the last five years, making CEA one of only three schools in the history of Miami-Dade County to win more than two titles!
The girls had seven of the eight students set personal records. We also had our top five all earn a medal by finishing in the top 10. Lainey Fernandez finished 3rd, Graziella Gerstl 6th, Luciana Guevara 7th, Valentina Aurich 9th and Madeleine Rodriguez 10th.
We are incredibly proud of our teams and our their amazing Coach Carlos, who has continually led them to be the best runners they can! Keep making your school proud!
