1st Grade Renaissance Fair
1st Grade had a magnificent Renaissance Fair in March. All three classes read Knights Before Dawn, and studied the Middle Ages, as part of their Social Studies and Reading unit. In the Renaissance Fair, there were six interactive stations, where the students could experiment different aspects of this period. One station had a wonderful storyteller. In another station, students made their own pomanders with small oranges. They created relic boxes, gluing decorative materials, such as macaroni, on their boxes. They even had an exciting archer station, where the boys and girls had a chance to try archery! A station was dedicated to jousting, in which each child rode an imaginary horse, made out of a cardboard box. There was a station dedicated to making ones own helmets and swords for the boys and hats for the girls. Each student had the chance to design and draw his or her personal coat of arms and hung them on display outside. Thank you to our three outstanding first grade teachers, Mrs. Saavedra, Mrs. Gruneiro, and Mrs. Cruz, for organizing this wonderful, education event and inspiring our children to learn more and more each day!
